Before talking about Senator Booker - we need to talk. The #1 issue Democrats in Indiana and around the country need to solve is voter apathy. Voters must turn out in 2026 to elect new leaders. The American people need to see how the Trump administration’s actions directly affect their daily lives - 👉🏻 🤡.
Trump Wants to Return to the Gilded Age?
If Trump gets his way, we’re headed back to an era where the super-rich hoard most of the wealth—some would argue we’re already there, and his policies will only cement the gap further.
Russell Vought, Trump’s former and current budget director of OMB, has convinced him that “at the turn of the century, our economy was rocking.” But what that really means is a return to policies that overwhelmingly favor the wealthy while leaving working Americans to shoulder an even greater financial burden. The plan? Make the 2017 Trump tax cuts—massive giveaways to billionaires and corporations—permanent.
How do we know? Because Trump’s enablers, like Indiana’s own Senator Jim Banks, are showing us his complete disregard for the American people. Banks isn’t just complicit—His attitude toward the American people is on full display. His disrespectful attitude is proof of his complete disregard for the struggles of everyday Americans.
The economic question that needs to be asked and highlighted is: How can Trump achieve this goal?
Revert to an era with fewer protections for workers and families.
Slash government spending—meaning cuts to Medicare and Medicaid.
Increase the federal deficit by $4.7 trillion.
Fund his tax cuts for the wealthy with tariffs—a tax on everyday Americans.
Project 2025: Russell Vought wants to return to a time when the super-rich amassed even greater wealth. 👇🏻
Privatize government functions like the TSA and the postal system—with billionaires like Jeff Bezos waiting in the wings to profit.
The Impact of Tariffs on Everyday Life
Why is Trump pushing tariffs when every leading economist in the U.S. and around the world is sounding the alarm that this is a disaster in the making?
Because he needs tariffs to fund government spending.
The MAGA GOP knows that tariffs aren’t paid by foreign countries - they’re paid by us, everyday citizens. That means higher prices on everything; food, gas, clothing, electronics, and more as these tariffs get passed directly to consumers.
For working families already struggling to afford basic necessities, this will be devastating. The cost of living will rise while wages stagnate, creating even greater economic inequality.
Basic economics tells us one thing: someone has to fund the federal government.Under Trump’s plan, it won’t be the billionaires. It won’t be the massive corporations.. It’ll be you. Most Americans just want to see a balanced plan.
Impact → Cuts to Essential Services
Where is Trump getting the money to fund his tax cuts for the top 1%?
From programs like Medicaid, which millions of Americans rely on. It’s no secret—Republicans have an $800 billion cut to Medicaid in mind. This raises serious concerns about how vulnerable populations will survive without these essential services.
Now, here’s something critical to understand: only about 8% of people are truly paying attention to what Trump is up to.
That means when you tell someone that Trump is planning to cut their Social Security or Medicaid, there’s a psychological block. They don’t believe it will happen. They dismiss it as "just politics" or assume that "both sides do it."
But this isn’t a game. It’s real. And if we don’t cut through the noise, people won’t realize what’s happening—until it’s too late.
This isn’t a warning. It’s reality. ➡️ Believe it.
They are showing us who they are ➡️ Believe it.
Let’s take a little trip back in time.
Timing of Nominations to SCOTUS
Merrick Garland (2016): Obama nominated Garland on March 16, 2016, nearly 8 months before the election. Republicans, led by Mitch McConnell, refused to hold hearings or a vote, claiming it was too close to the election and that "the American people should have a say" through the next president157.
Amy Coney Barrett (2020): Trump nominated Barrett on September 26, 2020, just 37 days before the election. Republicans fast-tracked her confirmation, completing the process in record time before Election Day
Border Wall Funding from Mexico
Promise: Trump repeatedly vowed Mexico would "pay for the wall" during his 2016 campaign.
Reversal: The wall was funded through U.S. taxpayer money, including reallocated military funds and congressional appropriations. By 2021, only 47 miles of new barriers (not a contiguous wall) were built where none existed before. And let’s not forget about Steve Bannon’s scheme to fund the board wall - which he pled guilty to.
Protecting Pre-Existing Health Conditions
Promise: Trump assured Americans he would "always protect" pre-existing condition coverage.
Reversal: His administration supported lawsuits to overturn the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which guarantees such protections, and failed to propose a replacement plan
Who could forget - Infrastructure Week 🤔
Promise: Trump and GOP leaders pledged a $1 trillion infrastructure plan in 2016.
Reversal: No major infrastructure legislation passed during his term. Projects like roads and bridges saw minimal investment, with focus instead on tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy. But Secretary
Reducing the National Debt
Promise: Trump claimed he would eliminate the federal deficit "very quickly."
Reversal: The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act added $1.9 trillion to the deficit, primarily benefiting high earners. The debt grew by $7.8 trillion during his presidency.

The Power of Collective Action - Let’s not go back to the Gilded Age!
We've seen time and again that when we come together, united in our pursuit of justice and equality, we can achieve remarkable things. From the Civil Rights Movement to the present day, collective action has been the driving force behind meaningful change.
Senator Booker's 25-hour speech was more than just a testament to his endurance; it was a call to action. He reminded us that our voices matter, that our stories deserve to be heard, and that together, we can create a brighter future for all if we choose to take action.
CALL TO ACTION ➡️ SHOW UP THIS WEEKEND!
This weekend, let's come together to continue the fight because Democrats fight for the people! We must not waste this opportunity to create lasting change. We owe it to ourselves, our communities, and future generations to keep pushing forward.
As a former photography teacher at the New England School of Photography in Boston, here are some tips for creating impactful images this weekend that tell a deeper, more humanistic story. I hope this image of my daughter at age 4, standing on Engine 33, inspires you. Little did we know 8 years later the men & women of Engine 33 would be our heroes when we rushed for cover on April 15, 2013. #Bostonstrong.
#1 Rule of Photography: To capture great images, know the rules—then break them!
Photography Tips for Capturing Powerful Protest Images
Bring your phone and a selfie stick (if you have one). Record the overall scene with both video and still images. If you feel inclined, ask community members, “Why did you come out to protest?”—then just listen - let them tell their story. ASK permission to post on social media. ☺️
Use the Rule of Thirds. Imagine your frame divided into nine equal sections, like a tic-tac-toe grid. Position your subject along the lines or at their intersections for a balanced, visually appealing composition. For a more dramatic shot, place the subject dead center.
Play with depth. On an iPhone, use Portrait mode—even if you're not taking a traditional portrait—to create a shallow depth of field and draw attention to your subject.
Use light as your friend. Backlight your subject to create a rim light effect, or shoot directly into the light for a more dramatic feel.
Experiment with angles. Shoot from above for a sweeping perspective or from ground level for a more intimate, immersive shot.
Forget the old rule: "Make sure you see your subject’s eyes." When telling a deeper story, emotion and atmosphere can be conveyed in other ways. Mood isn't always in the eyes—it’s in the body language, the setting, the movement.
Play with shadows. Light is your greatest tool—use it creatively to add depth, contrast, and emotion to your images.
DRIP CAMPAIGN
Let's honor Senator Booker's courage and conviction by continuing the fight for a more just and equitable society. If we do not continue to build momentum Senator Booker's 25 hour Senate floor speech was for not.
Make sure to share your images and stories on social media all week! Do not just dump all your photos into one post. Select a few to highlight each day - we call this drip campaigns.
Keep showing not telling that Democrats are fighting for the people.
